Searching for the 2010 Outstanding Woman
Willemstad – The ‘2010 Outstanding Woman Award’ will be presented during the seventh annual women conference in Curaçao the ‘2010 Conference About Women and Control', organized by Bright Ideas & Services.
The award will go again this year to a special woman in/from The Netherlands Antilles, Aruba or the Caribbean who excelled during her professional life with the work that she did that benefitted women.
The first ‘Outstanding Woman Award’ was presented in 2006 to Nilda Juliana-Jansen initiator of the cleaning company in Curaçao: Servisio Na Bo Òrdu (At Your Service), who, with her company, gave women the opportunity to work and to maintain themselves and their families. The 2007 award went to Zelma Maduro who during more than fifty years as a kindergarten teacher had motivated children and especially girls, helping them to make the best out of their lives. The 2008 Outstanding Woman Award went to Mila Palm for her work as an educator, coach and trainer of women especially for her work with young mothers.
In 2009, the award went to Lucina da Costa Gomes, who was the first female Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles and who abolished the law that limited legal action of the married woman.
These great women were and are still widely applauded for being an example to others.
