77 years old Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Sergio Leon looks back at his more than 40 years as a medical professional in Curaçao as being one of the most interesting way to get to know the community and especially the way that women view themselves.
He was and still is active in promotion of responsible parenthood in Curaçao, Antigua, New York next to his membership in other medical organizations.
‘Women control life’, he states, ‘But I am seeing changes during the last years.
The older a woman gets a child the more she loses parental control. And that may be one of the reasons for changes in our whole community structure. I know times where parental control was shared by social and sibling control. It changed I belief however’, according to Dr. Leon.
